AME's

The pilot is not the only person who keeps you safe during a flight. Aircraft technicians are responsible for the inspection, repair and servicing of the airframe and gas turbine engines on aircrafts.Technicians who work for the major airlines generally specialize in navigation, radio, radar systems, and other electronic and computer instruments and controls.Technicians who work for the military are also responsible for the fitting of aircraft armaments and pyrotechnics, and the maintenance of ground support equipment.Considerable attention to flight safety is involved and the technician carrying out maintenance must sign to indicate the aircraft is fit to fly.

The basic papers for the AME License Examination conducted by the DGCA, New Delhi are:
On completion of the II Semester (1 year completion) an AME student is advised to appear for the Basic Paper I of the AME License Examination conducted by the DGCA, New Delhi and at the end of two years for Paper II. Similarly, on completion of the V Semester (2 1/2 years of completion) an AME student is advised to appear for the Basic Paper III on Light Aircraft and Piston Engine.
The advantage of passing the Basic Papers, I, II & III (Light Aircraft, L.A / Piston Engine, P.E) as early as possible is that it will be much easier for the student to acquire the much coveted AME License later on by passing only in specific Paper IV applicable to the type of Airframe/Engine and Avionics Systems (E.I.R) on which he/she has gained the requisite practical maintenance experience as per Aircraft Rules/CAR. Also, after passing paper I,II & III he/she will be eligible to get a Basic Aircraft Maintenance Engineer License (BAMEL) from the DGCA which will enable the student to get a job in the aviation industry
